A musical career
Kandau debuted as a singer in 1986 and released singles in Germany under the name Sandy Rachel in the late 1980s. Around the same time she played 'Rumpelteazer' in the musical Cats.
In 1992 she joined the Frogettes, the backing singers of René Froger, and in 1994 she sang and danced in Candy Dulfer's choir during her Sax-A-Go-Go tour of Japan and the United States, among others. That same year her album 'Nice to meet ya' appeared, and in 2000 she took part in the National Song Contest with 'One step closer'.
Theatre and musical
Kandau played Cinderella in the Efteling Fairy-tale Show, a production that won an international award. Between 2000 and 2002 she played a leading role in Frank Wentink's dinner shows.
In the 2004-2005 season she appeared in Danny de Munk's musical 'De Munk Live', and that same year she had a temporary role in the television series Onderweg naar morgen.
Quick Change illusions
Since 2008 Kandau has performed her Quick Change acts: the more classical show La Voix Magique and the more modern La Voix Changez. In the blink of an eye she changes costume, and her shows also contain illusions.
With these acts she regularly served as the opening act for Hans Klok, and in 2013 she reached the semi-finals of Holland's Got Talent.
Sandy Kandau proved that song and illusion can beautifully reinforce each other into one captivating show. That same drive to bring different art forms together into something unique also characterises the work of Sudesh Roman.
