From a family of magicians
Suzy Wandas grew up in a family of magicians and was part of the family act 'The Wandas'.
After her father died and her brother was wounded in the First World War, she performed together with her mother as 'The Wandas sisters'.
A solo career and world fame
After her mother retired in 1936, Wandas continued as a solo act and performed throughout Europe, and later in the United States as well.
During her performances she met her future husband Zina Bennett, with whom she did a number of shows. Her marriage to Bennett was the reason she moved to the US in 1959.
Late recognition
Later in life Wandas received the recognition she deserved: in 1975 she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Society of American Magicians, and in 1981 she received the Performing Fellowship of the Academy of Magical Arts.
Her life was captured in the DVD 'Suzy Wandas: The Lady with the Fairy Fingers' (1995) and in the book 'Meisje met de feeënvingers' (2019).
With her 'fairy fingers', Suzy Wandas proved that pure dexterity and elegance are timeless. You will recognise that same dedication to craftsmanship and graceful presence in the work of Sudesh Roman.
