An early fascination
Krause grew up in Anholt, close to the Dutch border. By his own account he taught himself the first hypnosis techniques at the age of twelve, and developed his magic skills later in New Zealand.
At just sixteen he published his first book on mind reading — the start of a remarkably early career.
Breakthrough and international recognition
In 2016 Krause was named the best mentalist in Europe, a title he held until 2018. That same year he became the first German to win the prize on the American show Penn & Teller: Fool Us, in which performers try to baffle the famous duo.
Earlier he had already been Dutch champion of mentalism (2014/2015) and won the Prix Cagliostro audience award. With his programme MindGames he toured, by his own account, across all continents.
From stage to television
From 2020 Krause appeared several times on the popular German programme Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben. In 2023 he reached fourth place in the dance show Let's Dance, and in 2025 he took part in the German version of The Traitors.
He also performed as a TEDx speaker in both Friesland and Amsterdam, where he shared his ideas about perception and human behaviour.
Writer and thinker
Krause is also a prolific author. After his early debut came books such as 'Du bist Mentalist!' (2018) and 'Kennen wir uns?' (2020), a guide to reading people, as well as later titles on principles of thinking for the future.
His work connects mentalism with philosophy and psychology, revealing how surprisingly predictable — and how open to influence — human thinking can be.
Timon Krause proves that mentalism can be a contemporary, intelligent form of wonder. That same combination of sharp insight and spectacle also characterises the work of Sudesh Roman.
